Mu1 Performing

Performing is a process, which includes demonstrating certain performance criteria. Those performance criteria are:

  • Correct notes/intonation
  • Maintaining a steady beat
  • Correct rhythms
  • Using proper sound production techniques
  • Using appropriate stylistic devices/conventions
  • Incorporating a varied repertoire

Evidence of a warranted interpretation of written music can be heard through the students’ accuracy in these criteria and the application of expressive elements. Performances can take place in a group or alone and can either be a prepared piece or sight-reading. Teamwork for preparation and post-performance work (i.e. logistical needs, equipment, showing up on time, performance attire, etc.) is also needed.
